Game 66: Vocational vs. Hinsdale South (Boy's Basketball)

Game 66
Vocational vs. Hinsdale South (Boy's Basketball)
Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament
12/23/10

The final game of the night featured the Vocational Cavaliers and the Hinsdale South Hornets. The winner moves on to Monday night's championship game against Evanston.

Hinsdale South jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the 1st quarter, and Phil George scored 12 first quarter points. He hit a three-pointer in the first minute of the second quarter, the only scoring the Hornets would have before halftime. Vocational would go on a 14-0 run to enter halftime, leading 24-20.

Vocational led 38-30 entering the 4th quarter, but Hinsdale South made a big rally and had a shot to tie the game in the final seconds, but came up short in a 47-44 loss.

The Cavaliers were led by Ray McGrew's 15 points. Robert Hurd added 14 points, and Dantrelle Freeman pitched in 10 points for Vocational. Phil George led Hinsdale South with 18 points, and Joe Petrak added 14 points.

Once the game ended, it was time to head back to Annawan. Of course, I missed my exit and had to drive three miles to the next exit in DeKalb, Peace Road. I also need to remind myself to pay my missed tolls online. The state WILL find me....I learned that the hard way last winter...to the tune of $120 in fines. Live and learn!
