Game 24: Galesburg vs. Urbana (Boy's Basketball)

Game 24
Galesburg vs. Urbana (Boy's Basketball)
Galesburg Tournament
11/26/10

After packing up at Knox College, I headed back over to Galesburg High School for the final broadcast of the night. I had flirted with the idea of broadcasting the last game, between Thornridge and Collins Academy, but fatigue had set it.

In fact, as coach Massey and I were talking, he mentioned that he was tired and apologized if it sounded like he was rambling. I said that I had been awake since 3:30, but had not gotten very tired yet. By halftime of the girl's game, that fatigue set in, and by the time the 24th broadcast began, I was extremely tired. Any thought of broadcasting the last game of the night disappeared!

The Silver Streaks jumped out to a big first quarter lead, 21-6. Once again, Brandon Thompson scorched the nets, and scored 13 points in the first quarter. He would finish with a game-high 33 points, helping Galesburg to a 68-54 win over Urbana.

Aslan Butler played some of his first action of the season, and broke out with a 13 point effort. The 6'3" junior improved in each game during the football season, eventually earning a starting role on the team in various weeks of the fall.

Urbana was led by Deonta Jones and Devin Carter, who each scored 14 points. The Tigers committed 19 turnovers, while Galesburg committed just 12 turnovers.
