Game 7: Macomb vs. Rockridge

Game 7
Macomb vs. Rockridge
(11/18/09)

The finale of the second night got off to a late start due to the first game getting sent into overtime. The Lady Bombers came in off a fourth quarter run in a season-opening win over Rushville-Industry, while Rockridge started hot against Pleasant Plains on Monday, before fizzling the last three quarters. Stan Day, father of Macomb (Sr.) Ashton Day dropped off a camouflage hat, after reading my column this week on my duck hunt on Spring Lake. I had mentioned my lack of camo in my closet. The Rockets jumped out to a 15-9 first quarter lead behind a balanced scoring attack, and would lead 26-18 at halftime. Macomb stormed back in the second half pulling to within two points heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Bombers had a chance to tie the game in the waning seconds as Taylor Claudon set up from the right wing, but the shot was just off target. The Rockets would hold off the Bombers down the stretch and claim the 44-41 victory. Emily Watkins led Rockridge with 14 points, while Macomb received 12 points from Cassie Combs.
