Game 65
Metea Valley vs. Evanston (Boy's Basketball)
Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament
12/23/10
After wrapping up the DeKalb/Jefferson broadcast, we switched out equipment and used my mixer board and equipment with the DeKalb camera and computer for the iHigh broadcast.
Once the equipment was set up, I talked with the assistant coaches for the Mustangs and Wildkits, to get starting lineups and pronunciations. Amazingly, I pronounced each of the tough Metea Valley names correctly. The names below.
Milan Bojanic (Mih-lonn Bow-jah-nick)
Vin Patel (Vin Pah-Tell)
Shiv Desai (Shihv Duh-Sye)
Evanston jumped out to a 14-10 lead after the first quarter, and led 32-23 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Wildkits increased their lead to 34-23, before Metea Valley made a 7-0 run to make it 34-30.
Back and forth, the Mustangs had several opportunities to close it closer than four points, but could not capitalize. Even in the 4th quarter, the Mustangs rallied back from a 10 point deficit to trail by 4 points, but could not get any closer.
Evanston pulled out the 58-51 win, to advance to the championship game on Monday at the Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament. James Farr (6'8" Sr.) led the way with 19 points for the Wildkits. Garrett Jones added 12 points and Clark Rosenberg scored 10 points. Kenny Obendorf scored 12 points, and Ryan Solomon added 11 points and Raysean Parker pitched in 10 points for Metea Valley.
Metea Valley is a 2nd year high school in Aurora. This is their first year playing varsity basketball. There are no seniors at the school. Last year, the Mustangs played a JV schedule, and finished 23-2.
One of the more entertaining thing to watch in this game, was one of the officials. When he would call a carry, he sort of danced down the court while motioning the carry nearly the entire length of the floor. It was rather humorous.
