Game 59: Richwoods vs. Hononegah (Girl's Basketball)

Game 59
Richwoods vs. Hononegah (Girl's Basketball)
Sterling Shootout
12/22/10

With just a couple cups of coffee and a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast, hunger set in during the second game of the day. I headed to the concession stand for a bottle of water and a bag of popcorn. Very fast service, and what would become my lunch was just $2.00. Very good popcorn, too. I can not rate popcorn, because generally I don't have any concession stand popcorn. This popcorn was not salty....I hate salt, so I can be a harsh critic of popcorn if any amount of salt is present.

On paper, the Richwoods/Hononegah game looked to be one of the better matchups of the day, and that was certainly the case. The Knights would win, 50-47. Hononegah had a shot to tie the game in the final seconds, but didn't get a good shot off.

Hononegah's Brea Edwards (5'10" Sr.) comes into this content averaging 28.1 points/game, 12.3 rebounds/game, 5.4 steals/game, and 3.7 assists/game. She was held in check, scoring just 8 points, and 6 of those points were at the free throw line.

Richwoods was led by Mariah Smith's 19 points, and Karisa London added 15 points. Hononegah was paced by Lindsay Carroll and Nichole Smith (6'4" Jr.), who each scored 14 points for the Indians. Richwoods only committed 10 turnovers in the game, and forced 17 turnovers.

Names of the Game
There were three names in this game, that I was a fan of. Richwoods had Tatyana Nimmers (5'6" Sr.), while Hononegah boasted Madison Dunker (5'7" Fr.) and Kourtney Kavajecz (5'10" Sr.), pronounced: Kah-vuh-Check.

  1. You hate salt??? Healthy choice, but no fun. You have to have a little salt on popcorn!
